The Green Fund is a public-law entity reporting to the Ministry of Environment and Energy. It is the mission of the Green Fund to support development through environmental protection with administrative, economic, technical and financial support coming from programs, measures, measures and actions aimed at preserving and enhancing the environment, supporting the environmental policy of the country and serving the public and social interest through the administration, management and utilization of its resources.
Among other things, the Green Fund is responsible for:
- creating programs to finance measures and actions aimed at protecting, upgrading and enhancing the environment as part of the environmental and energy policy;
- assessing and selecting and monitoring the proposals and programs to be funded and ensuring their implementation;
- putting into place the procedures necessary to select individual implementing organizations for the above actions and agreeing with them on the terms and conditions under which such measures will be funded under Greens Resources.
The Green Fund utilizes Green Resources via programs for funding actions to protect, upgrade and enhance the environment implemented by third parties. Usually, funding is in the form of subsidies. At the same time such actions may be funded or supported by other public or European sources and/or private funds or through loans from the European Investment Bank or other agencies. The main beneficiaries are the Ministry of Environment and Energy or other ministries and the agencies reporting to them, decentralized administration agencies, local government agencies, legal entities of the public sector, organizations and associations of legal and natural persons whose statutory mission is to protect, upgrade and enhance the environment.
